Notarial Acts (State‑Regulated Fees) North Carolina General Statutes Chapter 10B

North Carolina law sets the maximum fees a notary may charge for standard notarizations:

  • Acknowledgments — $10 per signature
  • Oaths & Affirmations — $10 per signature
  • Jurats / Sworn Statements — $10 per signature
  • Absentee ballots: Notarizations for North Carolina absentee ballots are always free. 

Fees apply per notarized signature, not per document.

Mobile Notary & Travel Fees

  • Travel Fee (within 485 loop) — $10
  • Extended Travel (outside 485 loop) — $10+ $.70 per mile outside of the 485 loop
  • After‑Hours / Weekend Travel — +$10
  • Holiday Travel — +$20

Loan Signing Services

  • Seller Package — $75–$100
  • Buyer Package — $100–$150
  • Refinance Package — $125–$175
  • HELOC — $100–$150
  • Print Fee (if required) — +$25

Additional Services

  • Printing  — $1.25 per page 8.5x 11
  • Printing  — $1.50 per page 8.5x 14

Notaries are required to display their fee schedules in plain sight before performing any services.

 

Important Notes

  • A valid, unexpired ID is required for all notarizations.
  • Travel fees must be agreed upon before the appointment.
  • Notarial fees are due on arrival even if the notarization cannot be completed due to improper ID or incomplete documents.
